Who Are The Biggest False Teachers/Preachers?

image

The biggest false teachers/preachers/churches are: the Roman Catholic Church (some within this church are saved, if they trust in Jesus alone without relying on any good works), The Lutheran Church (which I grew up in), (and almost all Reformed and Calvinist Churches), Billy Graham, John MacArthur, and John Piper.

There are many, MANY other False Gospel Teachers who teach that SALVATION comes by ~repenting from sins~ and a ~commitment~ to ~lifelong discipleship~. These all teach WORKS RIGHTEOUSNESS salvation. But the Bible says that salvation is a FREE GIFT received through faith in Jesus.

People think these churches and preachers are conservative and respectable, but they are deadly. Jesus said: “MANY false prophets will appear and DECEIVE MANY PEOPLE.” (Matthew 24:11), and Galatians chapter one puts -two- damnation curses on anyone who preaches a False Gospel.

The Gospel is found in 1st Corinthians 15:1-4: “Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the Gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this Gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…”

Notice that there is no mention of repentance of sins or discipleship included as the way to be saved. These are NOT part of the saving Gospel.

The Bible clearly says that salvation is “not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:9)

Everyone who believes in Jesus alone, without relying on his or her good works to be saved, has everlasting life. (John 6:47: Most assuredly, I say to you, he [or she] who believes in Me HAS everlasting life.”)

  1. John MacArthur does teach a works based gospel. He also teaches that a person can receive the mark of the beast and later repent and be saved. Who is he serving? It seems obvious doesn’t it. God bless you:)

  2. John MacArthur I think is the worst of the Lordship Salvation teachers, but I think he is worse than the others because he has been formally rebuked and he is very specific about requiring works for salvation, that I think it would be very difficult for any of his followers to misconstrue his False Gospel and hear the true Gospel instead.

  3. Hi. I’m new. I try to find a church and now I don’t know. Can you answer a couple question for me? What makes you’re version of Christianity the right one, and why do you say all these other churches are condemned? Also, how can you presume to know who is saved and who isn’t? Thank you for answer.

    • Thanks for the great and legitimate question, Ryan. I myself am trying to find a good church. I have gone to exactly 30 churches over the last five years. I gave up about 2 years ago. I got a recommendation from Bob Wilkin of Grace Evangelical Society website for a church I will probably go to Sunday. They have a database of Free Grace churches. I would check with their website. // It isn’t “my” version of Christianity, but the Bible’s own teaching on salvation that I follow. Jesus said how to get assurance of salvation in John 6:47, and that is exactly what I repeat. God says about 150 times that you are saved if you ever believe in Jesus. The rampant error I condemn is the one God condemned in Galatians chapter one: salvation by works. Please read the post on “assurance” and see the 185 Bible verses post. Please comment and question more, Ryan. I appreciate your participation. Thanks. – Curtis

      • Just believe John 6:47 and 1st Corinthians15:1-4. Just believe in Jesus as God and Savior, without any of your good works. God bless you and your Grandma, Ryan.

  6. There are a lot of bold statements delivered in absolute terms in this article. I’m curious to Kmow if you have any literature from the early church that can help me gain a better undestanding of the ancient church. I was told they were driven undergroung by the catholics for believing the bible, but surely there must have been a documented history or even a sermon that has been preserved besides the scriptures.

  7. Hey, thanks for talking back. I have to admit, I figured that’s what you would answer. I can’t seem to find anything even with google. The few exceptions that are all catholic. This is a problem for me because my best friend is catholic! I tried to reason with him but he wouldn’t listen. He said if I could find just one piece of evidence showing my beliefs in practice going back more than 500 years, he would reconsider his faith and allow me to minister to him. I’m afraid for his salvation, but I can’t find anything. Not even one hint. This search is what brought me to this site. How do I argue for belief in Jesus alone with a guy who can quote as many verses as me to support his beliefs which we know are just wrong? And when I say quote verses, I mean lots of verses. I’ve never had anyone challenge me like this before on an intellectual and historical level before. I never even considered the question of where the bible even comes from or how the books were known. Anyway, if you can help me then great. If not, I’ll just have to keep digging. Thanks in advance.

    • Hi, John. Jesus Himself originated the ~assurance~ of ~eternal life~ through faith in Himself alone: John 6:47. Isaiah said our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. Paul defined the Gospel that saves us, in 1st Corinthians 15:1-4. Paul said that salvation is not by works. Peter’s ~statement~, not Peter himself, was the rock on which the church was built: that Jesus is the Son of God. How do I know this? The word petra is grammatically in the ~feminine~ gender in Greek. People have always believed what the Holy Spirit, Isaiah, Jesus, John, Paul, and Peter have said, from the very beginning. Those who believe the Gospel are the true eternally saved church. The Roman Catholic Church is the source of nothing salvifically good. Martin Luther “discovered” nothing that was not already in Scripture.

    • There are lots of great books on the origin and selection of the Bible books. That was a very scary study for me about 12 years ago, but I came to the end of it amazed at the divine selection and preservation of the books after about six months.

      • Which books did you read? Do you remember any authors? I’m coming up with nothing. You say you studied biblical origins and that it was scary. Why was it scary? I’m asking you so I can be better prepared with an answer. Because I’ll tell you, My friend has tons of answers, and he can back them up. I thought My church and Sunday school were all I needed to defend the bible and lift up the name of JESUS. I just don’t want to be that guy who passes the buck when challenges pop up. Will you please explain to me why our way is the LORD’s way? I’m starting to lose heart. We know to avoid Catholicism, but if this guy can defend that and I can’t defend the truth, then something is terribly wrong here. I can quote more verses on the fly than anyone I know except him! He even wrote a bunch of stuff out for me so I could sit down with my bible and better understand why whatever I say is met with a raised eyebrow. Dear LORD JESUS open our eyes that we may see Amen!

  8. It was scary because if I found out the Bible had shaky origins, or if it weren’t preserved accurately, that would have been a huge challenge to my faith. But, it turned out to be a faith strengthener because the Bible is more solid than any other book in existence.

    • That’s a lot to lay on a stranger I know. I apologize for this. I’m guessing from the silence that either you’re hard at work preparing a comprehensible defense complete with indisputable evidence from history, or kicking the dust off your sandals. If it’s that, then you will have shown me the way I should go; in the opposite direction. I started reading Josh McDowell’s book, which you recommended. I didn’t get very far in to it because it’s just more of the same that I’ve been finding. Greg already has an answer for all of that. I have decided to go against my better judgement and start checking facts from the ctholic perspective. That’s something I never considered since I always just assumed it was wrong. I mean the bible clearly shows how wrong they are about pretty much everything, or so I thought until I started getting kicked around by my friend. I will not be one who only seeks out teachers who will “tickle” my ears with the things I want to hear. I know you are 100% correct about 1 thing brother Curtis. That is it’s a very scary thing to realize everything you’ve been taught and everything you thought you knew, may actually be wrong. I’m having trouble sleeping now, and I find it hard to pray because I feel like the lord I thought I knew is not the same LORD who truly exists. I can’t shake the ugly feeling that I’ve been obnoxiously proclaiming what I wanted the LORD to be based on my feelings and what I want the bible to say. It hurts me to say that everything within me is screaming that I’ve been ignoring verses that don’t add up to my beliefs without even realizing it. I think I’ve been projecting JESUS’ Holy name on to an idol created by cutting and pasting only bible verses that agree with me and the pastors I like! I am so scared I even started making phone calls to other pastors to see what they have to say and they all say the same things over and over with nothing to back it up, They all begin with “the bible clearly says…” only to say something different than the last. If the catholics are doing the same thing then I’ll know it doesn’t matter and to simply believe in Jesus is all that matters like you say. The only problem is, as my friend pointed out to me a few days ago is James 2:19. I remember reading this verse as well as the others in context with it several times while I started getting an uncomfortable feeling that something was off. I just ignored it and moved to my comfort verses. Please pray for me, brother. I have an appointment to sit down with the local priest next tuesday, and I suspect his answers will be far more substantial and defensible than any of the umpteen pastors I been desparately begging for help. You’re website presents your beliefs in such a way that I thought you were the one who could iron out this mess I find myself in. I truly hope you got this in the bag and Greg and I will find a true church together next senday. You’re the first person I’ve told this to. I could stand to lose my family and all my friends (save for Greg) if I convert. I don’t want this!!!! I HATE THIS!!!!! But, the bible says we have to follow JESUS WHEREVER he may lead. So I just confessed what’s on my heart to a stranger on the internet. How strange. Oh well, it helps because I feel much more relaxed not. I will continue trying to find a way to not have to drink this cup. Pray for me.

      • I will pray for you, John. As far as I know, I have responded to every email you have sent. Are you seeing this message? James 2 deals with showing and being justified by our works BEFORE THE WORLD, NOT GOD. Abraham was justified BEFORE GOD, not man, by faith. The Bible CLEARLY says works of ours have zero part in salvation.

    • Well, here goes, brother. I googled catholic teaching and one of the first hits was as simple as it gets. Who knew it would be catholic.com. That just makes to much sense. I’m begging you again to show me what I’m going to find to not be true. I’m feelin a little light headed, and nervous.

      • Nothing overturns John 6:47. Jesus assures us of eternal life if we believe in Jesus for a moment. Ephesians 1:13,14 seals the believer’s salvation as guaranteed. The Bible says God’s promises are irrevocable.

      • Roman Catholic deception relies on you believing that Jesus’ clear statements are not true. It also relies on you believing that verses about discipleship obedience are dealing with salvation, which they are not, ~in context~.
