What God Says About Homosexuality, in the Bible

“Homosexuality is normal. Practicing homosexuality is something to be proud about and to celebrate.”

“All committed relationships are okay–two men (or two women) who love each other sexually should be able to get married and have their union blessed by God and the state.”

According to much of the world today, if you disagree with any of the above, you are unenlightened, unloving, unevolved, or a hater.

But God clearly tells us in His Word what homosexuality is: in Leviticus 20:13, God says that homosexuality is an “abomination.”

God’s judgment on things does not change, and has not changed for as long as the earth has been in existence. (About 6,000 years, according to the genealogical records in the Bible.)

In Romans 1:26 to 29, God calls homosexuality:
“vile affections,”
“unnatural,”
“unseemly,” and
“shameful.”

Romans 1:27 says that homosexuals received in themselves the penalty which was due. (AIDS, or an ancient AIDS-like disease?)

Homosexuality is nothing to have “pride” about.

There is nothing “gay” or happy about homosexuality.

Homosexual people often have emotional and conscience unrest because of the sin they practice, because they do not have the power to invent a new reality. God’s laws cannot be broken with impunity.

God destroyed two cities, Sodom and Gomorrah, whose men were so evil that they wanted to have sex with the angels of God who came to announce that the cities would be destroyed.

1st Corinthians 6:9 plainly lists homosexuality as one of the sins that will cause people to not go to Heaven. (If they do not believe in Jesus.)

1st Timothy 1:10 clearly condemns homosexuality as a sin.

Those who committed the sin of homosexuality in Old Testament times were given a death sentence by God in Leviticus 20:13. Obviously, this law no longer applies to people today.

Also in the New Testament, Jude verse 7 clearly says that the sexual immorality of the people in Sodom and Gomorrah is set forth as an example of people who will “suffer the vengeance of eternal fire.” (This refers to burning alive in Hell. The sinners in Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God when He rained holy fire and brimstone down upon them.)

Romans chapter one and the book of Revelation also condemn homosexuality.

Jesus Himself fulfilled the Law of Moses and validated it Himself. Jesus approved of the Law of Moses. The Law of Moses contains proscriptions against the sin of homosexuality.

So, there is no doubt that the Bible says homosexuality is a sin.

Is there any good news?

Yes—God in His grace loves all sinners so much that He incarnated as a Man and suffered and died for our sins: 1st Corinthians 15:1-4.

Homosexuality is not the only sin, and it is not the worst sin.

Hatred or superiority toward homosexuals is wrong and these evil attitudes are unwarranted for sinners who are saved by grace.

Rather, believers should reach out to homosexuals to believe in Jesus and to be saved from the punishment of ~all~ of their sins, including homosexuality.

Without Jesus, we would all be burning in Hellfire forever as punishment for our sins.

Telling people the way to avoid the punishment for sins in Hell, and the Way to be reunited with God through faith in Jesus the Savior is great love for your neighbors.

Jesus died for the sins of homosexuals.

Jesus tells us to love all people as He loved us.
