If you don’t love everybody (including yourself) then you can’t really love anybody, because we have to love ourselves and others in spite of our sins and faults, if we are going to love at all. This does not mean that everyone can or should be your friend. It means that we hold a general kindness and goodwill for others. And this love that we love others with comes from God, who loves us more than anyone, in Christ, and who is worthy of being loved above all.
