The “But” Teachers: one “but,” and you have a False Gospel

Jesus and Paul warned us the “but-teachers” are coming. They are no longer just coming. They are here in full force, in the churches, on the internet, on utube. Add one “but” to the cross, and we have legalism. Add one ” but” and we no longer need the cross. We can save ourselves without it. Satan is good at his job. Look in the comments section of every utube preacher. Look at the anger and confusion. Look at the rebuttals. People are hurting, need the truth, only to encounter thousands of different messages.

  1. Well said!

I laugh when people add baptism, works, obedience to commandments, being a good person, church attendance, avoiding certain sins, and other “conditions” for salvation.

The truth is, if we had to get baptized, do good works, live a good life, and avoid serious sins in order to enter Heaven, we wouldn’t need the Cross. We wouldn’t need Jesus Christ. We could simply get to Heaven ourselves and not through Him.

If we had to get baptized to go to Heaven, why did Jesus die? Why didn’t God just let us wash ourselves with water? We do that everyday, by the way (hopefully, for hygienic reasons).

If we needed to avoid certain sins to get saved, why did Jesus die? Why didn’t God simply require that we live good lives and avoid sins such as adultery, suicide, murder, or other “serious sins”? Why did God warn in James 2:10-11 that one violation is enough to make us guilty sinners? We’ve all sinned far more than once, that’s for sure.

If we had to go to church, live morally, repent of sins, turn from sin, or do anything else to get saved other than believing on Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, why did Jesus Christ die on the Cross? God could’ve just said, “Okay, live a good life, do your best!”

Why did Jesus Christ die on the Cross and rise again? To pay for our sins. If it were up to our good works, we would all end up in Hell. Jesus Christ lived perfectly and paid for our sins in full on the Cross.

Why else would God warn that only those who do His Will are the ones that will be saved? He warns about so many people who will be cast into Hell on Judgement Day because they trusted in their works to go to Heaven rather in the shed blood of Christ.

  2. Yes, Nathan

And the Catholic Church, Lutheran Church, and I suspect, most of the Protestant churches are but-teachers. After reading your remarks, I started counting the different churches; Mormons, Jehova Witness, Seven Day Adventist, Church of Christ, Methodist, Presbyterian, so many do-gooders, just too many to count. Many are main stream churches, not just cults. How did we get there from here? They teach the cross, seem to really believe it, then at the very end, comes the deception, the false gospel. The congregation is unsuspecting.

  3. Which churches are you referring to as “free grace churches”? In my state, the only true free grace churches,” Jesus Christ +nothing”, seem to be the “Independent Baptist” churches. I am not sure about the Pentecostal such as ” Church of God”, because I have never attended. Right now I am attending a Southern Baptist church, and frankly, the Southern Baptist Covention is really scaring me, with their CRT, social justice movement, and even their opinions on homosexuality. So, what do you mean by free grace churches and what sanctifications are you talking about?
